“There are some things that we can do,” Tilloch says.

You can also ask a friend, family member, or teacher to support you during the transition process.

For example, if you work with students in the same school, you might have to adjust the schedule of the classroom so that students aren’t doing things like running around and jumping around.

Tillach says it can also be helpful to make your office a place where you can connect with other teachers and parents.

She also recommends that you talk to your parents about how the new position will affect them, and how you can best support them in their transition.

“Your parents will probably be the first ones to understand,” she warns.

“They’ve probably been there, and maybe you haven’t.”

She also advises teachers to try and stay in touch with parents about the changes they’ll face.

“For a lot, it’s going to be like you’re a kid in a toy box,” she emphasizes.

“It’s going be hard at first.

You don’t have a plan for how you’re getting on.

But you do have the opportunity to meet new people, to meet teachers, to reconnect, and to learn from each other.”


Keep a diary.

You should keep a daily log of what you’re doing, says Tull, so you can see how the work is changing and how the school is adjusting to the changes.

“A lot of teachers will write down their days,” she notes.

“One of the great things about it is, if they don’t, they can see if they’re being effective at the work that they’re doing.”
