A Kerala man has died from a heart attack after his dog was left in an enclosed vehicle for six and a half hours without food or water.
According to a report in The Hindu, a man named Ramesh Kumar Singh left his three-month-old puppy, Ady, in his car parked outside a Walmart store in Kozhikode’s Ghatkopar district on Thursday.
The man said the dog had gone into the parking lot to find food but it left after being neglected for about six hours.
The dog was taken to a veterinary clinic but after a few days it died, the man said.
The dog’s death comes at a time when there are concerns over the rise of the dog disease that is plaguing the state.
According a report by Hindustan Times, the Kerala State Animal Preservation Board has said that around 2,200 dogs have died due to the dog-disease, which has been spreading rapidly across the country.
Kerala is among the states where the dog is found in larger numbers.
In Kerala, about 100 dogs are euthanised every month.
